Milesight WS301 Magnetic Contact Switch for LoRaWAN

For doors and windows, 4+ years of battery

Milesight WS301 simply enables you to know when someone enters the office/building through door/window or if something has been moved. A classic sensor for smart homes, offices and buildings in general.

Mount the sensor to a fixed surface and the magnet adjacent on the moveable part. When the magnetic connection between sensor and magnet is broken, this signals that the door/window is open, or an object has been moved.

WS301 is compact, with a minimalistic design allowing is to fit into any environment. As it is battery powered and wireless it can be easily mounted to doors, panes or cabinets.

The sensor runs on a single 1200mAh batteri, allowing for operation of anything from 2 to 5-6 years depeding on wireless signal conditions and usage. As an example, based on SF10 and 20 openings pr day, you can expect a lifetime of 4 years. Operating on a better SF, such as SF7, should almost double this lifetime to 8 years.

Milesight D2D Communication Protocol

Milesight D2D Communication Protocol is a proprietary, wireless protocol developed by Milesight. It allows LoRaWAN-based devices to communicate directly with each other, without the need to go through a LoRaWAN Gateway and network server.

This is ideal for in-building applications, where you want a local action to control something nearby. Such as a smart panel controlling lights, windows blinds or similar, or automating light control connecting a PIR-sensor to trigger when people are detected, or a door magnet to trigger when someone enters the room. The use cases are many.

By using the D2D Communications Protocol tramissions between source and destination will have significantly reduced latency (< 1 second) as compared to the regular setup, where the signal must go through a Gateway, via network server and as downlink to the end device.
